The owners Richard and Paul first met in 1989 at college.

Training as apprentice electricians they were working for different companies covering all aspects of electrical contracting and installation.

After completing their 5 year apprenticeships and qualifying as electricians, they remained close friends.

Paul continued to gain practical skills and on site experience. Richard specialised in to the areas of estimation, contract design and management. He also qualified as an architectural lighting designer.

In 2006 circumstances brought them together and they took the opportunity to form Empower.

Starting as a small electrical team with Jon, one of Richard’s former apprentices and Rachel in the office. We have steadily grown over the years, adding new team members with a variety of experience and skills along the way.

Most of our team have either worked alongside or been trained in the past by Richard or Paul, so are friends as well as colleagues. We believe that this has helped to create the close team environment we have and pride ourselves on the fact that no one we have employed has ever left.

Through the creation of apprenticeships we have been able to provide the opportunities that we enjoyed ourselves.

Our training programme allows us to share our expertise and experience as we grow in the future.

We have also made many close acquaintances through the years who share our values and now work with us to deliver a complete package of building services.
